Trying to sleep next to a wall clock can feel like you’re hanging out next to a ticking time bomb. In reality, I haven’t had to deal with that problem in quite some time since I don’t keep a clock in the bedroom. However, I recently realized that a wall clock would actually be just the thing to pull the room together and to prevent me from reaching for my phone to check the time. So, I set out to compile a list of the best silent wall clocks I could find.

Now, whether you’re looking for a clock you can put in your bedroom, or just one that won’t annoy you during those silent mornings as you’re preparing to go to work, you’ll definitely find a worthy clock on my list.

I should be clear about one thing, though: the clocks I’ll be talking about are all analog ones. Digital clocks are also obviously very quiet, but I’ll explain the benefits of having an analog wall clock in just a minute. After I do, I’ll point out some features you’ll want to be on the lookout for when shopping for a silent wall clock. Then, I’ll review some of my favorite ones – so let’s get to it!

Why You Need an Analog Silent Wall Clock

There are plenty of reasons why I excluded digital wall clocks and focused on analog ones. Namely, when I started looking for a good wall clock, I already had a digital one – and I was sick and tired of it.

My digital clock was fairly unattractive in comparison to most analog ones I was seeing. But I soon realized that, to me, most digital clocks were similarly unappealing. Analog clocks, on the other hand, were more tactile and often didn’t look as cheap as most digital ones.

Aside from being an unsightly mess of cheap plastic, my digital clock was also pretty hard to handle. I never made use of its more advanced features, like the alarm clock, but moving the clock forward or back bi-annually was a torturous experience every time. Honestly, I’m not even sure if it’s the clock’s fault or my own. I just know that I can move the time on an analog clock with a simple dial, while I inevitably end up resetting the digital one and having to set the date and time all over again.

Actually, the one arena I believe the digital clock has an analog one beaten is the calendar feature. As a person who easily gets lost in time, I do need as many reminders about which day and month it is as possible. However, that fact alone wasn’t enough to deter me, and I’m sure it won’t deter you! So, how should you go about shopping for a silent wall clock?

Features to Look for When Buying a Silent Wall Clock

As always, there are some standard things you should think about before going shopping. I’ve split them into three main categories: loudness, design, and price. Let me explain why they matter.

Non-Ticking, Silent Sweep

The volume of ticking is obviously at the top of important features. Fortunately, many products are marked as “silent” clocks, which made my search significantly easier. If you’ve read some of my other product reviews, you’ll know that finding silent products isn’t always so easy.

But with clocks, manufacturers pride themselves on creating a silent mechanism, so they often put “non-ticking”, “silent sweep“, or a similar claim in the product name itself.

Design

The overall look of the clock is ultimately the thing that will sell you on a wall clock. You can take your pick of the materials – plastic, metal, wood, or otherwise. In addition, the numbers can be roman, numeral, non-existent, or represented by dots. And, the clock hands can vary as well.

I’ll take great care to describe the design aspects of the clocks in my reviews, such as their color schemes and sizes. These are all features which will determine where you can place the clock if you want it to match the rest of the room.

Take the time to consider the room you want to place the clock in, and maybe even the changes you’re planning to make. For example, you could be about to paint the room, so you’ll want to think of the future color of the walls when shopping for a clock.

Price

Finally, you may want to decide on a clock according to your budget. Fortunately, most of the clocks on my list are way under $40. I’ll present the clocks in a price ascending order, so I’ll start with the ones you can find for around $15. After those, I’ve found some which hang around the $20 mark, and some which are upwards of $30.

Now that you know what to consider, let’s take a look at some of the best silent wall clocks on the market.

If you’re looking for a plain black and white device that won’t make too much noise, this Bernhard Products clock is for you. The 10-inch timepiece should be a fairly unnoticeable accessory in any room in your home, office, or school. Even if you’re looking for a similar model in a larger size, the same manufacturer makes 12, 13, and 16-inch versions as well.

The clock’s sturdy black frame is made of durable plastic, though it also has a piece of glass covering the clock face. Speaking of which, you’ll find the clock face fairly inoffensive, featuring large black Arabic numerals surrounded by small dots. The only writing on the front of the clock is the subtle “QUARTZ” logo above the number six, indicating that the device uses a non-ticking mechanism. Even the manufacturer’s logo is subtly positioned on the back side of the clock.

The black, angular metal hands of the device are also as innocuous as they can get. In addition to the two main clock hands for the hours and minutes, the manufacturer has also included a slimmer, red hand to mark the seconds. Thanks to the high contrast the white background provides, you’ll be able to read the clock with ease.

2. Epy Huts 10-Inch Modern Silent Wall Clock

This Epy Huts clock is available in five different colors — white, gray, black, blue, and teal. All versions except for the one that comes with a white background color have white plastic frames surrounding a clock face with white numerals and hands. Naturally, the model with the white background has a black frame, as well as black numerals and clock hands, which should allow you to read the time. Of course, the color you choose will depend on the rest of your furnishings.

In any case, the clock in question is about 1.5 inches deep with a 10-inch diameter. The sturdy frame that holds the protective glass over the clock face is made of ABS plastic. The numbers and second dashes around the edges of the clock are legible enough. On top of that, the two squared-off clock hands should be easy enough to track.

As always, the high-torque Quartz movement mechanism that powers the device will be most noticeable in the thin hand that circles the clock face every minute. Like the previous two entries on this list, the DreamSky clock has the Quartz Movement feature that ensures the smooth movement of the clock’s three hands and keeps it quiet. As such, the clock needs a single AA battery to run, though the manufacturer didn’t specify that it should be a carbon one.

However, at only 10 inches in diameter, this wall clock is smaller than the others on the list. The smaller width doesn’t make the dial of the clock too crowded, though. The minute lines along the exterior of the clock face are clear and black against a white background, as are the big Arabic numerals which are pushed towards the center. Both the numbers and minute lines are 3D, so they’re not just printed on – that should make them easier to see from all angles

There’s also a DreamSky logo under number 12, and a “QUARTZ” sign above 6, though they don’t detract from the overall look of the clock. Unlike the previous clocks, you’ve got some color options with this one, as it’s available in black, blue, and pink. Since the clock is pretty standard, made of plastic and glass, it’s still in our under $20 range.

If you’re into vintage clocks, this KECYET model will tick all your boxes. It comes in a beautiful bronze color that will wow you at first glance. Plus, it’s incredibly legible with big black numbers and handles over a soothing white background.

The clock runs on a single AA low-output carbon battery, and it is completely silent. However, bear in mind that you will have to purchase the battery on your own, as it is not included with the clock.

Since the clock works via the Quartz mechanism, you can rest assured that it is actually quiet. The hands truly glide soundlessly, so you will have no trouble sleeping or working at home.

The glass covering the clock face is sturdy and resistant to dust and smudges. Thus, reading the clock shouldn’t be a problem. Moreover, cleaning it will also be a breeze every time.

5. HITO Modern Silent Non-Ticking Wall Clock

Let’s move away from the all-plastic clocks for while sticking around the same price point a little bit, by checking out the aluminum frame HITO clock.

After the decorative clock we just saw, this one looks even more reduced, even with the added features. But, before I get to those, I’ll quickly cover the basics.

This clock is only 10 inches in diameter, with a silvery metal frame and four color options. If you’re looking for the most basic one, you can get the white clock face with black hands, minute marks, and numbers. However, if you want something more special, you can choose black, sky blue, or grass green backgrounds, with white hands and markings instead.

As expected, the minute markings are arranged around the outskirts of the clock face, while the Arabic numerals are pushed in, smaller than on the other clocks but still clear. There are three clock hands, two of which move in continuous silent sweeping movements. Though the manufacturer doesn’t specify if they used Quartz technology, the clock still requires a single AA battery to run.

Finally, the clock also has two extra features, under number 12 and above 6. There’s a Celsius and Fahrenheit thermometer above the center of the clock face, and a hydrometer under it.

Besides the white and blue combination, the company also offers white and gray and black and gold. So, there is something for everyone’s taste and interior design. Whichever model you pick, the numerals and handles remain 100% visible and easy to read.

The beauty of this clock is definitely in its simplicity. Namely, it has no frame and no glass. Moreover, there are only two wooden hands on the clock face: the ones showing hours and minutes.

So, the clock face and two wooden handles are all there is, and they are light and easy to clean. A neat hook is included in the package, so you don’t have to buy one to hang the clock.

7. LOHAS 12-Inch Silent Vintage Wall Clock

If you want to create a rustic atmosphere in your home, you should look for clocks that incorporate more natural materials, backgrounds, and shapes. In that case, this 12-inch clock from LOHAS might be just what you’re looking for.

The piece is so simple, you could even make it yourself. The manufacturer used a 0.2-inch thick MDF board as a base, simply drilling a hole in the middle for the clock hands. Rather than painting the numbers onto the wood itself, LOHAS Home simply printed the image of mismatched boards and pasted it on.

The background image also has black Arabic numerals all around the edge, surrounded by dots. Additionally, there’s a sign in the upper half of the clock face that reads “Clement Audierne, produits pour l’industrie” in distressed lettering. Another sign in the lower half of the image reads “Rue Victor Hugo.”

The black metal clock hands match the general mood of the piece. The two main ones have that classic teardrop shape, while the third hand is a straight ruby red line. 8. Kesin 14-Inch Retro Wooden Silent Wall Clock

Next up, we have another wooden wall clock that’s much more traditional and less haggard-looking than the previous one. It also has a much more detailed look overall. To be fair, the 14-inch diameter clock from Kesin is the largest product on this list so far. So it can certainly fit all the pleasing details we’re about to see on the clock face.

From the front, the first thing you’ll see is a lovely pinewood frame encircling the clock face. While it’s tempting to think that the frame is some kind of wood imitation, this time, that isn’t the case. The 1.9-inch thick frame is clearly made of eight separate curved pieces. It stabilizes both the black plastic back and the protective glass that covers the clock face.

The ivory background provides an excellent contrast to the black Arabic numerals around the clock. You’ll see second marks around the numbers as well as a decorative circle near the center of the clock. If that doesn’t help you distinguish between the three metal clock hands, their unique shapes will certainly do the trick.

Thankfully, the clock face isn’t marred by any obnoxious logos. All you can see is the “QUARTZ CLOCK” logo above the number six. The mechanism in the back is sunken into the plastic that will otherwise push the clock from the wall.

Since this clock is so large, it also comes with a hook that should help secure it to the wall. You’ll just drive four nails through the four sides of the X-shaped hook and slide your clock onto it.

9. Bjerg Instruments Stainless Silent Wall Clock

Between its stainless steel frame, and its glass cover, this Bjerg clock takes us back to more durable minimalist styles. It has three silent sweeping clock hands and needs only one AA battery to work.

The whole clock is 12 inches in diameter, though the steel frame makes the actual face of the clock a bit narrower. Still, there’s plenty of room for the clearly visible minute markings, Arabic numerals, and even the manufacturer’s stamp in the lower part of the clock.

This clock comes in two styles. The first has light gray markings, numbers and clock hands on top of a black background. However, the other style isn’t just an inversion of these colors. The black minute markings on the white background are thinner and longer, and the numbers are simplified and much smaller. Also, two of the clock hands are black, while the third one is red.

10. Lumuasky 12-Inch Non-Ticking Modern Wall Clock

If you’re looking for a truly minimal design, check out this clock from Lumuasky. This link actually has four different versions of this device, though the basic features are all the same.

Firstly, you have a thin, round base with a hole in the middle for the hands. There’s no extraneous frame or plastic in the back of the clock — just the mechanism box that sticks out from the main board. Speaking of which, the base is made of wood that can either be white or black. On top of that, the manufacturer also makes one version of this clock in green tempered glass that looks much more expensive than it really is.

For the white wooden model, the manufacturer kept it minimal with simple yet futuristic, black Arabic numerals around the edge of the board. However, the type of numerals and the materials the manufacturer used differs in each of the four styles. One of the black versions has thick Arabic numerals while the tempered glass base and another black base come with Roman numerals.

As you’ll see, the two clock hands seem to be floating above the clock face — which doesn’t even advertise the existence of the Quartz mechanism. Other than the numerals and the hands, the front of the clock doesn’t have anything on it. In the back, the mechanism box is housed inside a small wall mount frame. However, the clock also comes with a hook to hang it on, as well as four pins to attach it to the wall with.

This DAWNDEW product offers another vision of the minimal home decor fantasy. The clock face is quite understated, featuring only the four main numbers — 12, 3, 6, and 9. Between each of those, you’ll only get two lines etched into the 0.7-inch thick engineered wood, signifying the missing numbers.

The bottom half of the clock face also features a nice little message, reminding you to “ENJOY YOUR TIME” in clear, capital letters. Other than that, there’s no writing on the product — at least none that you can see. The angular clock hands on the base are made of walnut wood and, therefore, darker, making the clock easy to interpret.

Now, the clock itself measures about 10.2-inches in diameter, but that’s not all there is to it. If you use the lanyard that comes with the product to hang it up, it’ll take about 14.2 inches of wall space to accommodate it. Rather than mounting the clock directly on a nail, you’ll install a small, round piece to hang the clock on with a length of rope.

As expected, the non-ticking, Quartz mechanism in the back runs on a single AA battery — preferably a carbon-zinc one. Between that and its charming, handmade design, this product is sure to make any room feel more like home.

Finally, my last pick bumps up the price point quite a bit – at least in the larger size. Still, I couldn’t resist adding such a delightful design to my list, since it does satisfy my other requirements. Let’s talk about this OLDTOWN Gear Wall clock.

Thanks to a non-ticking Quartz Movement mechanism, the two clock hands are completely soundless.

The clock comes in two sizes, in diameters of 12 and 23 inches. Naturally, the smaller version comes with a significant drop in price, which places it comfortably among the rest of the entries on this list. The whole clock is made from a half-inch thick MDF which makes it light enough to hang at any size.

The frame of the clock consists of two black concentric circles kept together by the numbers and decorative stationary gear wheels in the middle. So, the clock isn’t actually made from a solid block of wood or plastic, like the others I reviewed were.

While the frame remains the same, the clock is available in two color schemes (bronze and silver), and in Arabic and Roman numerals as well. The Roman numerals are better, in my opinion, as the Arabic ones suffer from the same design flaw we saw on a previous clock. That is, the numbers flip as they circle the clock.
