Blenders I recommend:

I have had a Vitamix blender for years and years. It is pricey but it is old and going strong. This blender is tough and made to last.

If you can make it work in your budget, I definitely recommend the Vitamix for sure.

Now, I also like the Ninja blender and it gets great reviews. This is a less expensive option and it will get the job done if the Vitamix isn’t in the budget right now.

You can’t go wrong with either option.

FAQs

What is the ratio for slushie mix? ›

Slush Machine Mix Ratio

Premade slushie syrup is concentrated, so it needs to be mixed with water before adding it to the slush machine. Every brand has their own ratio, but most mixes are either 1:4 or 1:5. This means for every 1 cup of syrup, you need to add 4 or 5 cups of water to the mix.

What makes slushies slushy? ›

Slush is made by a mixture of sugar and water. To prevent the mixture from freezing solid, there must be 12–22% of sugar present in the solution. The sugar acts as an antifreeze in the solution.

Can you make a slushie with a blender? ›

Combine a few squeezes of lemon juice, 2-3 cups of hulled and halved strawberries, a tablespoon or two of agave or a sweetener of your choice and ice in a blender. Begin with one cup of ice and add more as needed. Blend until the strawberry slushies reach your desired consistency and enjoy.

How do you make slush thicker? ›

To make the slush thicker, take a small flat screwdriver and turn the screw ANTI-CLOCKWISE. You will notice the adjustment indicator moving downwards. Only allow the adjustment indicator to move 1/2 a notch at a time before waiting 1/2 hour to see if your slush consistency has improved.

Why put salt in slushies? ›

The science behind this delicious treat is that when you add the salt to the ice, it lowers the freezing point of the water in the bag, so the bag of ice stays colder longer than plain ice. Instead of your ice melting when you shake it around, it stays frozen long enough to freeze your juice – creating your slushie!

How long to freeze juice for slushies? ›

You will need to leave it in the freezer for at least 2 hours so that it can freeze properly. You can, however, check your slushie every 30 minutes, and then take it out when it reaches the consistency you like. It might be after 1 hour and 30 minutes, or it might be after 3 hours.

Why does salt make slushies? ›

Salt provides the solution. Similar to sugar, salt affects how water freezes and effectively lowers the freezing/melting point of water. Creating a saltwater slush and packing this around our ice cream base allows us to cool the base enough so that it starts to thicken and freeze before the ice melts completely.

How do you turn a soda into a slushy? ›

To get this effect, I shook up 4 bottles of 500mL (16.9 oz) soda in a freezer set at -24ºC (-11ºF) between 3:15- 4:00 hours. The longer they are in, the more dramatic and solid the slushy freeze will be. However, anytime after 3:15 hours there is a chance of them freezing before you take them out.

How do you make a monster slushy at home? ›

Just remove the top and pour your drink into the cup. and just put the cup into the freezer. for an hour and 30 minutes. I found that this is the fastest one.

How to make a slushie at home with Gatorade? ›

Gatorade slushies are simply ice, Gatorade of choice, and sugar. Blend it up, and then you have a super chilly and icy drink to sip on. Just grab any of your favorite flavors of Gatorade and enjoy it for yourself.

Does ice and salt make slushies? ›

This reaction and drop in temperature will freeze the fruit juice in the smaller bag that is surrounded by the ice and salt mixture in the gallon sized bag. After shaking the smaller bag in the gallon sized bag for about 5 to 10 minutes, the juice turns into a slushy.
