Homemade Lemon Sugar Body Scrub for the Whole Family - TRGL (2024)
It took us a solid three weeks of school before my girls were in school all five days of the week, so we had a LOT of time to fill up. In that spirit, I started thinking about what we could do in the kitchen that wasn’t cookies. (Don’t worry, we made those, too.) I stumbled into a recipe for a lemon sugar body scrub and guys, it was such a hit!
This “recipe” couldn’t possibly be easier to make, so I was able to get both the five- and seven-year-old involved in making this scrub. As an added bonus, we figured out this is a great hand scrub for my daughter that loves to chew on her nails. It really works by knocking off the rough spots so she has nothing left to nibble on.
I also can’t help but think these would make adorable gifts for teachers as we approach the holiday season. With a little adult help, kids can easily make this lemon sugar body scrub on their own and then all it takes is a cute jar and a handwritten gift tag to make it a custom gift for the ones who have really put themselves on the line for our kids. I think grandparents would also appreciate receiving such a gift form their dear ones.

Lemon is a natural skin brightening ingredient, which naturally removes tan. Mixing it with sugar makes an excellent scrub for removing dirt and giving your face a natural glow. Just mix a tablespoon of sugar in half a lemon's juice and mix it. You can also add a bit of honey to attain a nice consistency.
The diy lemon sugar scrub is best if used within 1-2 months. It does not need to be refrigerated. Simply store it in a jar with a lid. And make sure to screw the lid on tightly after each use so it stays fresh!
Lemon tightens pores and evens out the skin tone, sugar removes dead skin cells and cleans pores, olive oil heals acne scaring, and honey prevents future breakouts.
Now that's a win-win. To make a sugar scrub: Mix four tablespoons of brown sugar, one tablespoon of clover honey, and 1/2 tablespoon of sweet almond oil in a bowl. Add four drops of lemon essential oil and three drops of orange essential oil.
If you're wondering when to use an exfoliating body scrub, make sure you use it after you have showered or bathed, and after you have used shower gel, soap or body wash. This ensures your skin is clean and prepped for exfoliation, and the warm water ensures your skin is damp and soft.
Gentle Exfoliation: Uncover a smoother complexion using lemons as a natural exfoliant. Let the citric acid gently remove dead skin cells, promoting a rejuvenated and revitalised appearance.
Put a small amount of body scrub in your hand. Gently rub it on your skin in small circular motions, using your hand or an exfoliating glove. Scrub your skin gently for no longer than 30 seconds. Rinse your skin liberally with lukewarm water.
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this scrub and you probably already have everything you need in your pantry. Combine: It really is as simple as mixing brown sugar and melted coconut oil in a bowl.
Start off by mixing 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Next, moisten a cotton ball with the mixture and apply directly to your face in a gentle circular motion and leave on the skin for 15-20 minutes.. Once you've covered your face, remove with lukewarm water.
