Memorial Home open house

Friends of Memorial Home will host an open house event from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday at the Memorial Home, 706 E. Market St. In January 2022, the City of Logansport passed a resolution to take control of the Memorial Home. Plans are underway to repair the roof to prevent further structural damage. Friends of Memorial Home are seeking feedback about the restoration of the Center and its potential uses. For additional information, contact Susan Jarrell at 281-703-4827.

Legion hosts Parlor of Pickers

The American Legion, 828 Burlington Ave., will host the Parlor of Pickers from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. The event is open to the public and will include snacks, raffles and more. Call 574-753-8620 for more information.

Talking Books at Black Dog

Talking Books for May examines American Women in Wartime with a look at the women who served in World War 2 as nurses, code breakers, pilots, spies, and more. Jan Newton will review three books on the subject: “Valiant Women,” “The Women With Silver Wings” and “A Woman of No Importance.” The program is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Dog obedience training

Those interested in dog obedience training may come out to the Twelve Mile Vet clinic, 6688 E. St. Rd. 16, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday. This is a sign up and orientation and no dogs should be brought to the meeting. The course covers basic obedience, house manners and some behavior issues. Faith Lutheran bible study

Bible study at Faith Lutheran Church, 6765 E. 800 N., Logansport, will use “Fifteen Ways to Pray” by Keith Pearson to jump start prayer lives from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29. William Paca spaghetti dinner

The William Paca Lodge #2366 will host its monthly spaghetti dinner night from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30. The dinner includes all-you-can eat spaghetti, two meatballs, salad and garlic bread. The cost is $10 for dine-in or carryout. Call in orders for carryout from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 29 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. All carryout orders should be called in to 574-722-9822, and can be picked up between 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday. The event is open to the public.

Deer Creek breakfast

Deer Creek Presbyterian Church, 4450 N. State Road 29, Deer Creek, is hosting a community breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1. On the menu are biscuits and gravy, waffles, sausage and bacon, eggs, hash browns, coffee cakes and rolls. Handicap accessible and carrout available. Freewill offering for Ann, Ruth and Noah Godsil. Ann’s husband passed away unexpectedly in February, leaving behind daughter Ruth, 12, and Noah, 7.

Logansport Artisan Market

The Logansport Artisan Market, in conjunction with the Logansport Art Center, with take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on June 1 at the Logansport National Guard Armory, 912 S. Cicott St. The event will showcase the area’s top artisans and craftsmen as well as nine junior artisans for a total of 45 booths. Junior artisans are sponsored by Security Federal Savings Bank. Entry is free. The first 50 people who attend and donate two non-perishable cans of food to Logansport Street Outreach will receive a complimentary swag bag. DivorceCare Group meeting

The Main Street Community Church, located at 19 E. Main St., will be starting a DivorceCare Group starting at 6 p.m. June 6. This nonprofit group hopes to reach anyone who is needing a safe place to share and learn how to cope with divorce with faith-based workbooks and DVDs. The group will meet for 13 weeks. Anyone who would like to be a part of this group should call the church at 574-753-3844 and leave a message so a spot can be saved for them.

Grass Creek Lions dinner

The Grass Creek Lions and Dan’s Frying Service are hosting an all-you-can-eat fish and chicken dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6 at Grass Creek Fire Station, 7309 S. State Road 17. Dine in or carry out. Adults are $12 and children ages 6 to 12 are $6. Dessert included with meal. Proceeds go to state and local projects.

Loss of spouse grief support

For those who have lost a spouse, Faith Community Fellowship, 1007 17th St., is offering a one-night session of Grief Share from 6 to 8 p.m. June 25. Participants will hear practical advice from others who have walked the same path, what to expect in grief, and how to cope with life. Cost is $5 which includes a workbook. Walton July 4 parade returns

The Walton Fourth of July Parade is back at 2 p.m., July 4. Lineup begins at the Lewis Cass parking lot at 1 p.m. Follow parade crew instructions. Entries can be made by contacting Carol Woolever at 765-432-0945 and email woolevercarol7@gmail.com.
