AMERICAN CUTLERY 1865 STAG BONE HANDLED CARVING SET (2024)

This antique deer bone (I am uncertain as to the exact bone but it looks like stag to this untrained eye) handled meat carving set dates to the Civil War and the knife’s blade is marked AMERICAN CUTLERY COMPANY 1865 and I believe the unmarked bolsters and hilt plates are sterling silver. The knife measures 16” overall length with a 9” blade length. The set shows a fine age patina with a slight stress crack in knife’s handle adjacent to bolster. The handle of the fork shows a length wise deep crack along its handle, but it is intact and very useable. I have highlighted these defects in my images.
