9 Effective (& Tasty) Fertility Smoothie Recipes for TTC (1)

When you’re desperately trying to get pregnant, you’ll do just about anything to increase your odds.

Some of those things are fun, some are not.

Fertility smoothies definitely fall in the “fun” category…for your taste buds at least!

I’ve tried many delicious fertility-friendly smoothie recipes, and I thought I’d share some with you today.

But first, let me address the most obvious question…

What Is a Fertility Smoothie?

DISCLAIMER: This blog post is for informational purposes only and should not be regarded as health, nutritional, medical, etc advice. This article is not meant to be a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis or treatment.

When couples are trying to get pregnant, they often find it necessary to increase their chances of conceiving.

Well, our bodies run off of nutrients. If those nutrients are depleted, some body functions won’t operate properly, and conception is no exception. Ooo that rhymes :).

A smoothie is just a super easy way to pack in as much nutrition as possible.

Also known as conception smoothies, this particular type of drink is made of fertility-focused foods that are proven to support healthy implantation and then pregnancy.

Fertility smoothies may be an unusual concept for some, but in all actuality, they’re not that different from the average smoothie.

They’re just loaded with foods that contain specific vitamins, minerals, and proteins to support conception and hopefully, make it easier to have a baby.

You may consider drinking them throughout the entire process from TTC, the two week wait, and all the way through pregnancy.

And contrary to popular belief, fertility smoothies are good for both men and women. As they say, it takes two to tango!

They can boost egg health, as well as make his little swimmers Olympic-level strong!

How to Make a Fertility Smoothie
[The Formula for Success]

Although there are tons of different fertility smoothie recipes out there, the key is to focus on variety. You want to “check the box” so to speak on as many of those key nutrients as possible.

Also, keep in mind that fertility smoothies work best as part of an overall healthy, fertility-friendly diet.

In addition to diet quality, you’ll also want to develop other healthy habits (like lower processed sugar intake) to increase your chance of a healthy pregnancy.

Maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, and limiting stress are all factors to consider.

And don’t forget to support your body mentally. Fertility affirmations, inspiring quotes and bible verses about (in)fertility can help keep you in a positive mindset.

Let’s look at a few things most fertility smoothies have in common. Although there may be variations, some foods are a must to make the smoothie fertility-friendly.

Fresh Fruit

Fresh fruits and vegetables are chock full of vitamins and minerals. Since pregnancy increases your requirements for these nutrients, having fresh fruit in your diet is ideal, and smoothies make that easy.

Try to work in:

  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Grapefruits
  • Oranges
  • Pomegranates
  • Pineapple

Greens

Greens are where we get essential nutrients like iron and folate. It may be difficult to work enough greens into your day to reap maximum benefit, but that’s where smoothies come in.

You can pack that blender full of greens, and it really won’t alter the taste too much once mixed with the other ingredients.

Focus on:

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Collard greens
  • Swiss chard

Healthy Fats

You may be trying to limit your fat intake, but your body uses “healthy” fat as an essential nutrient.

In fact, unsaturated fats can actually boost your chances of having a baby.

Here are some of the best sources of healthy fats to include in your smoothie:

  • Avocado
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Olive oil
  • Coconut oil

Fertility-Boosting Superfoods

One of my favorite things about smoothies is the ability to sneak in nutritional powerhouses that I wouldn’t otherwise eat.

Certain superfoods are believed to increase your chance of conception. Some of them you may not be super familiar with, but don’t let that stop you from trying them.

Try some of these superfoods:

  • Maca powder
  • Bee pollen (only if you’re not allergic, of course!)
  • Ashwagandha

Moderate to Low Sugar

The problem with some smoothie recipes is their high sugar content. It’s easy to overload on even natural sugars because smoothies tend to pack in the fruit.

It’s important to maintain a healthy balance. Absolutely include fruit, but not too much. Finally, make sure to balance it out with plenty of greens and protein.

Some lower sugar fruits include:

  • Citrus fruits
  • Berries
  • Avocado

Clean Protein

Your body needs adequate protein in order to conceive, but not all proteins are created equal.

Many protein sources are fatty, but some are clean and lean. Those are the ones to focus on.

Some good sources of clean protein include:

  • Egg yolks (preferably free-range)
  • Lentils
  • Liver (don’t worry, you can get it powdered, which is almost tasteless!)
  • Nuts

Ok, now to the fun part – the recipes!

Best Down Regulation IVF Smoothie

If you're going through treatments to get pregnant, as a part of the process, you probably have to go through down regulation.

This can come with unpleasant symptoms like constipation, headaches, fatigue, and even breakouts.

One simple method to give your body a boost and detoxify naturally is by making this great smoothie.

What makes it a little different from other recipes is that you actually steam the spinach before adding. It makes it a little easier to blend and doesn't take much time.
