Is this gorgeous, or is this gorgeous? This amazing design comes from 1001 Gardens.

The curving grape hyacinth flowers beautifully mimics river water!

While I can’t imagine any one of us would plant this quantity on a wide forest path, 😉 some could easily recreate this design as a front flower bed idea.

I love the tulips planted in clusters at the edges of the ‘river.’ This really helps create the flowing effect.

So pretty!

This lovely violet display as shown on Western Gardens helps teach flowering enthusiasts how to get gorgeous results year after year with perennials.

If you’re new to the gardening world, a perennial is a plant or flower that will grow again each year.

This makes them a wonderful choice for a low maintenance flower beds.

You should know, that when planting a perennial, you will need to pay attention to the zone rating.

The zone rating refers to geographic regions where a particular plant will grow best. Zone ratings are almost always located on the plant’s price tag.

If this is all new to you, you can go here to find which plant zones work best in your area!

The lovely blue flowers pictured here are cinerarias flowers that grow best in zones 9-11.

She recycles farmhouse style ladders, galvanized buckets on top of plants (as pictured above), and even inverted oil cans and linear garden signs.

Adding height and varying levels will take your flower bed design to the next level.

Head on over to her blog and take a peek at her ideas, thanks Carly!

#6) Flower Bed Idea For A Fence Line

12 Gorgeous Flower Bed Ideas For Your Home - The Unlikely Hostess (8)

Speaking of vertical interest, how about this stunning flower bed idea from Pinterest?

The tall flowers look amazing when planted just in front of a backdrop. This backdrop could be a fence line (as pictured above), or the front of your home.

Also notice the flower bed edging.

Instead of making a straight edge, they used a pronounced s-curve design. This adds so much style to your flower bed design.

When planted, remember to plant taller plants/shrubs/flowers in the back, and shorter towards the front.

Gorgeous.

Another fun and creative way to add interest to your flower bed and yard is to plant flowers into an old tree stump.

Notching, or hollowing out the inside works as the perfect natural planter.

When mature flowers start spilling over the wood the results are simply stunning!

This flower bed features lovely shade plants as well as herbs!

This lush and lovely collection all does well in shaded areas. I also like the ledge stone rock circle around the tree.

This fun before and after makeover project was featured on Hometalk.

What used to be a bare weed filled side yard turned into a lovely lush flower garden with the neatly arranged hostas and annual flowers.

When edged with easy connect brick pavers it provides the perfect definition from the lawn.

#10) Clay Pots In Flower Bed Idea

12 Gorgeous Flower Bed Ideas For Your Home - The Unlikely Hostess (12)

I love this idea from Sequin Gardens! Having flower pots buried in a rock garden makes planting bulbs and other perennials so easy.

If you put your flowers conveniently inside the plastic containers in the pots you could even change them out throughout the growing seasons.

You could place early spring lilies and tulips, beautiful mid summer varieties, and then mums for fall!

Clay pots will require a little extra attention in watering however.

Keep that in mind if your flower bed catches a lot of direct sunlight and is prone to drying out.

#11) Elevated Log Planter Idea

I just love this idea as see on HomeBNC!

Someone could recreate this look with wooden fence posts, or stained/raw lumber.

Make sure you bury as much of the planter as you reveal and pack well to ensure sturdy construction.

What a great way to add height and structure within your yard or flower bed.

Flower Bed Around A Tree

12 Gorgeous Flower Bed Ideas For Your Home - The Unlikely Hostess (14)

A classic never dies when it comes to tree rings!

You will find this lovely design as well as many others over at goodshomedesign.com. Though I must admit, there seems to be a bit of a war waging on in the comments section regarding how much mulch is “safe” around the base of a tree.

There adamant outdoor enthusiasts swearing to mulch it up, while others claim too much mulch can kill a tree.

I’m guessing a good dose of common sense would go a long way here.

If your tree is freshly planted make sure it has room to breath, especially around the crown. If your tree has been there for decades I can’t imagine a ring of mulch would cause to much harm.

Just sayin. 😉

Happy Flower Bedding Ya’ll!

I hope you found some flower bed ideas that you can use around your home!

I’m planning to feature many of these fun designs on our new farmhouse home reveal very soon- SO excited!

Before you go, might it also be time to give your other outdoor spaces a little love with these fun outdoor decor ideas or flower pot ideas for your front porch!

Just sayin! 😉

Cheers for now!
